The Potsdam Declaration or the Proclamation Defining Terms for Japanese Surrender (not to be confused with the Potsdam Agreement) was a statement issued on July 26, 1945 by Harry S. Truman, Winston Churchill, and Chiang Kai-Shek which outlined the terms of surrender for Japan as agreed upon at the Potsdam Conference. The agreement stated that if Japan did not surrender, “They would face prompt and utter destruction.”

(1) We, the President of the United States, the President of the National Government of the Republic of China and the Prime Minister of Great Britain, representing the hundreds of millions of our countrymen, have conferred and agree that Japan shall be given an opportunity to end this war.
私達、合衆国大統領、チャイナ共和国国民政府大統領及び大ブリトゥン首相、我々の同国人数億を代表して、ジャパン（日本）がこの戦争終結への機会を与えられるようにすることを協議し承諾した。

(2) The prodigious land, sea and air forces of the United States, the British Empire and of China, many times reinforced by their armies and air fleets from the west are poised to strike the final blows upon Japan. This military power is sustained and inspired by the determination of all the Allied nations to prosecute the war against Japan until she ceases to resist.

(3) The result of the futile and senseless German resistance to the might of the aroused free peoples of the world stands forth in awful clarity as an example to the people of Japan. The might that now converges on Japan is immeasurably greater than that which, when applied to the resisting Nazis, necessarily laid waste to the lands, the industry and the method of life of the whole German people. The full application of our military power, backed by our resolve, will mean the inevitable and complete destruction of the Japanese armed forces and just as inevitably the utter devastation of the Japanese homeland.

世界の目覚めさせられた自由な一般民衆の勢力への無駄で無意味なジャァマン（ドイツ）の抵抗の結果はジャパン（日本）の民衆への手本として怖ろしいほどの明快さで前に立つ。今ジャパン（日本）の上に結集するその勢力は必然的に所有地、産業及び全ジャァマン（ドイツの）民衆の秩序だった生活に不毛を用意した抵抗し続けるナチスに当て嵌める時、どっちみちそれより際限なく広がっている。我々の軍事力の完全な妥当性、我々の不屈によって裏付けされた、はジャパニィズ（日本）軍隊の不可避で完全な駆逐及び時を一にしてジャパニィズ（日本人）の祖国の徹底的な荒廃をも運命付けるだろう。

(4) The time has come for Japan to decide whether she will continue to be controlled by those self-willed militaristic advisers whose unintelligent calculations have brought the Empire of Japan to the threshold of annihilation, or whether she will follow the path of reason.

(5) Following are our terms. We will not deviate from them. There are no alternatives. We shall brook no delay.

(6) There must be eliminated for all time the authority and influence of those who have deceived and misled the people of Japan into embarking on world conquest, for we insist that a new order of peace, security and justice will be impossible until irresponsible militarism is driven from the world.

そこでは世界征服に乗り出すことへとジャパン（日本）国民を騙し誤った方向に導いたそれらの官憲や勢力をできる限り長く排除されなければならない。つまり私達は平和、安全、公正の新しい条理は無責任な軍国主義が世界から追い払われるまで不可能だと主張している。

(7) Until such a new order is established and until there is convincing proof that Japan’s war-making power is destroyed, points in Japanese territory to be designated by the Allies shall be occupied to secure the achievement of the basic objectives we are here setting forth.

このような新しい条理が確立されるまでやがてそこに於いてジャパン（日本）の戦争‐形成軍事力が駆逐されるという説得力のある立証が為されるまで、連合軍によって指名されるジャパニィズ（日本の）領土の細目は私達がここに前もって調整している基本的な目的の達成を保証するために占有されるだろう。

(8) The terms of the Cairo Declaration shall be carried out and Japanese sovereignty shall be limited to the islands of Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu, Shikoku and such minor islands as we determine.

カイロ宣言の条件は遂行されジャパニィズ（日本の）統治権は本州、北海道、九州、四国の島々及び私達が定めたようなそんな小さい島々に限定される。

(9) The Japanese military forces, after being completely disarmed, shall be permitted to return to their homes with the opportunity to lead peaceful and productive lives.

ジャパニィズ（日本）軍隊、完全に武装解除後、は平和的で建設的な日常を先導するための機会と共に彼らの祖国へ戻ることを許される。

(10) We do not intend that the Japanese shall be enslaved as a race or destroyed as a nation, but stern justice shall be meted out to all war criminals, including those who have visited cruelties upon our prisoners. The Japanese government shall remove all obstacles to the revival and strengthening of democratic tendencies among the Japanese people. Freedom of speech, of religion, and of thought, as well as respect for the fundamental human rights shall be established.

私達はジャパニィズ（日本に属すもの）が民族として奴隷にされたり国家として葬られたりすることを意図しない、しかし厳格な審判はあらゆる戦争犯罪人に対して下される、我々の囚人の身に残虐な行為を与えたそうした者達を含めて。ジャパニィズ（日本）政府はジャパニィズ（日本）国民の間に民主的な風潮の再興及び強化に向けあらゆる障害を除去する。基本的人権の尊重同様、言論の、信仰の、及び思想の自由、は確立される。

(11) Japan shall be permitted to maintain such industries as will sustain her economy and permit the exaction of just reparations in kind, but not those industries which would enable her to re-arm for war. To this end, access to, as distinguished from control of raw materials shall be permitted. Eventual Japanese participation in world trade relations shall be permitted.

(12) The occupying forces of the Allies shall be withdrawn from Japan as soon as these objectives have been accomplished and there has been established in accordance with the freely expressed will of the Japanese people a peacefully inclined and responsible government.

同盟国の占領軍はJapan（日本）から撤退させられる、これらの目的が達成され、そしてそこに自由に表現されるジャパニィズ（日本）国民の意志と一致して平和的に傾いた責任のある政府を樹立されたらすぐに。

(13) We call upon the Government of Japan to proclaim now the unconditional surrender of all the Japanese armed forces, and to provide proper and adequate assurances of their good faith in such action. The alternative for Japan is prompt and utter destruction.

以上Wikipediaからポツダム宣言の文書を転写しました。今日Xでポツダム宣言に再軍備の禁止という言葉があることを知りました。そこで私はこれを翻訳することにしました。軍備はしない方がいいと思っています、しかし他国がいつまでも敗戦国だからと言って禁止すべきことではない。軍備は日本が平和を望めばする必要はなく、現在の軍備は第二次世界大戦当時のものとは比較にならないほど地球全体に影響を及ぼします。どうか改ざんしないで、盗まないで多くの方々に読んで貰って下さい。

歴史というものがそれぞれの国家を裁く。歴史を自国に有利に変えると裁かれるものの立場を一層厳しいものにする。日本は未だ貧しかった、貧しい国に富んだ国、先を行く国が負けたらそりゃあどれだけ責められるか分からない。所詮世界は人の集まりに過ぎない。利己的で傲慢で愚かな。このポツダム宣言はあまり重要なもののようには思えない。日本中の誰もが辞書を片手に訳してみるといい。ポツダム宣言の受諾とはいえ、決定的ではない抽象的言葉の羅列に過ぎないと私は思った。それを受取ろうが受け取るまいが、原爆を落としていいことにはならない。原爆は遅れたアジアの国の端にある小さな島々の貧しい者達を人間と思えない米国の傲慢さが落とした。もちろん全て戦争は人体実験である、地球に及ぼすまた宇宙に及ぼす影響を知ろうとするものだ。全部分かった時、人は死に、地球は消え、宇宙はきっとその後も残るのだ。
